Your First Visit

Patient Forms

The first step of a new patient visit is to fill out the new patient forms. These provide information on your health history and current complaint to give the doctor necessary background information. These forms can be filled out in office, or downloaded from our New Patient Center and completed prior to the appointment.

Consultation

After completing your paperwork, you will have a consultation with one of our doctors. This is where you and the doctor discuss your current complaint, health-related problems and concerns, and potential treatment options. In other words, this is your story time! The consultation is designed for the doctor to learn more about you, your condition, and expectations to determine how chiropractic care can meet your goals.

Examination

The next step is a complete chiropractic examination to narrow down the cause of your complaint. The examination may consist of neurological, orthopedic, postural, and physical tests and gait analysis. Your reflexes and range of motion will be tested as well. These tests help the doctor determine the origin of your complaint and what treatments would best benefit you. However, nothing will be done in our office without your consent.

X-Ray Studies

Depending on your specific condition and the findings from the consultation and exam, we may take X-rays in office. X-rays help us rule out any underlying pathology, allow a visualization of your spine and joints, and help us develop the most effective treatment plan for you. The doctor will explain your X-rays to you and answer any questions you may have at the Report of Findings.

Treatment

At the conclusion of the initial appointment, you will most likely experience your first chiropractic treatment! Treatment may include spinal and/or joint adjustments, physical therapy, and/or soft tissue mobilization. Our doctors are trained in a variety of techniques and will utilize the one best suited for you. We want every patient to have a great experience, so let the doctor know about any preferences or concerns you may have. Treatment is meant to be interactive, and they will work with you to help you heal in a comfortable setting.

At-Home Care

After the visit, the doctor may suggest at-home care to incorporate outside of treatment. This may include ice or heat application instructions, certain activities or positions to avoid, and at-home exercises and/or stretches. If you desire, our wellness team will work with you also to create healthy habits and routines for your lifestyle.

Report of Findings

Your second visit will be a Report of Findings. This is where the doctor lays out their treatment plan and answers any questions you may have, including:

  1. How can you help me?
  2. How often will I be seen?
  3. What is the cost of treatment?

Every treatment plan is tailored to you and your specific condition and goals. Our doctors provide the best treatment and wellness program for your needs, and will refer you to other providers if needed.
